It’s not that far away. I’m talking about the holidays. Just a few months and you will be expected to have all those presents wrapped and under the tree. But with the tough economic times you have been dealing with this year, where are you going to get the money to do all the shopping you need to get done for the holidays?
Think credit cards.
While you may instantly have had an image of a pile of debt come to your mind, that is not what I am talking about here. There are ways to use your credit cards responsibly and save a lot of money towards your Christmas shopping – take advantage of the rewards.
The Best Rewards Cards
Cash Back Credit Cards
By far the easiest way to do your Christmas shopping is with cash in hand. If you have a cash rewards credit card you can use that card for as many of the family and household purchases as you can during the year and then have the credit card company ship you a cash rewards check just before you get ready to do your holiday shopping. Some of the best cash back credit cards may well feel like you are part of a special Christmas club. You do the purchasing you need to all year long and have a check waiting when you need it.
Catalog Credit Cards
If you are a catalog shopper, catalog credit cards may be your best bet. You can order anything from catalogs these days. Additionally, many of the catalog families work together, so when you get a credit card for one catalog company, you may be able to use it for a number of their sister catalogs. The best catalog credit cards offer points for every dollar you spend that can lead to free merchandise or major discounts as you add them up.
Travel Rewards Credit Cards
Do you have someone in your family that loves to travel? Or maybe you are the big traveler. Either way, the best travel rewards credit cards on the market can let you do your Christmas shopping and get some great trips out of it as well. Imagine giving a family member a round trip ticket to see someone they haven’t seen in years. They’ll think you spent a fortune. You’ll know it was just cashing in the points you had earned on your card. Additionally, if you are the traveler, you can charge all your holiday purchases on your best travel rewards credit cards, let the points pile up and then be ready to take a trip to recover from the busy holiday period.

look at all these people with 0 social skills coming in here and giving me thumbs down on my comments. read my suggestion and read it over again when you are done, because you don’t get what i am trying to say- you can either try to bag her by complementing, or you can fly under the radar and get her to like u and get her #. even his sexual advances fails – he will gain a friend at least. but if he tries to go for the number – the bf line will come up every time and he will not gain anything.
Pay it off as fast as possible because you are accumulating massive interest on that! If your interest rate is 15%, you're paying about $100 a month in interest! The faster you get it paid off, the less money you'll spend. There are calculators available online where you can see the difference between your plans. Both are good, I like the second one best.

BTW, your idea of saving for things you want, is an excellent idea, and it's too bad more people don't do it. Sounds like you have the right idea.
Dude, I’m confused. Are you trying to prove that you are horrible at talking to women or what?
Use only cash – you'll spend a whole lot less and you'll be guaranteed not to go into debt.
The government is promoting the pagan idea of Christmas to boost the economy, a legit scam.
OMG! I would never even think of borrowing from my sons! You need to quit giving or lending them money. Save a little more in a different account & it's time for you to move out. Sorry this happened to you!
That $5,000 will put a pretty big dent in your credit card debt. You should pay that down. Or save it.
Your credit card debt likely has the highest interest rate of all of your other debt, so it would be the best to pay that first.
But, if you are going to just charge the $5,000 back on your card to do Christmas shopping, just use it for that. Better to pay cash than to charge : )

You are even more pathetic than this guy.
This is kinda tricky. You really need lawyer-ly advice, so I suggest you repost this question in the legal section.
But I'd start by making some sort of reply to the letter, in writing. Tell the lawyers that you tried to make the payment, but Mervyn's refused it and fired you instead. Tell them that you don't owe the money. Basically these "lawyers" are a collection agency.
Beyond that, I recommend you get legal assistance.
Leave out the part about the Hawaii vacation. It seems to be irrelevant to your story. I guess you think they fired you as revenge for the Hawaii thing, but it's still mostly irrelevant to your question, which is, "Do I owe these people $50 or not?"
You are a waste of life. Find a better hobby and a psych. You need both.
@airheadknight
what are you like a zeta male or something?
Yes we are in a recession and people deciding not to spend money only makes the recession worse.
So long as you have your job, you can pay your bills and shop.
The stock market is so rotten, it might be better to put your money under your pillow. Or spend it now and enjoy it while you can!
The irony is that the more the media talks about how bad things are, the more worried people get, the less they spend… Then people get laid off of their jobs because people aren't spending, which make it spiral to a worse situation.
The best thing that we can do in a bad market is to continue as usual.
I am glad to hear that people are spending. When they stop, the market only gets worse.
How does this even relate to "Singles and Dating" anyway? Interesting story though and I will not work for Mervynn's thanks to your info.
Malod here is what you say when they say- “i have a boyfriend.” . you say-
“that’s great, he can keep you company when you are not with me”. (in a semi-joking voice tone and smile) or, you can reply back- “oh really? bring him along, the more the merrier when it comes to social networking. (this comment imply your motive is not sex, but useful things like social connections. bishes love that sh!t.
Good job being super creepy dude. Chicks secretly love being harassed by random idiots. (Every chick you talk to wants you to go away and never come back.)
you have to fly under the radar without getting stuck in the friend zone, that’s the biggest trick. if you haven’t noticed already,- gawking like a hawk and grunting like a caveman while showing sexual interest from the beginning only makes them running for the hills,
